Microscopic derivation of pion-nucleon and pion-Delta scattering lengths
A general expression for the π − N and π − ∆ scattering lengths is derived in the framework of a microscopic calculation. Annihilation, negative energy wavefunctions and spontaneous chiral symmetry are included consistently. The point-like limit is used to calculate the scattering lengths.
متن کاملResonant Scattering and Spontaneous Emission in Dielectrics: Microscopic Derivation of Local-Field Effects
Resonant classical light scattering by impurity atoms inside dielectric cubic lattices is investigated in the point-dipole limit. Modifications to resonance frequencies and linewidths are shown to be different for substitutional and interstitial impurities. Spontaneous emission rates inside dielectrics exhibit the well-known empty-cavity and Lorentz local-field factors for substitutional and in...
متن کاملTheory of Complex Scattering Lengths
We derive a generalized Low equation for the T-matrix appropriate for complex atom-molecule interaction. The properties of this new equation at very low energies are studied and the complex scattering length and effective range are derived.
متن کاملScattering lengths of calcium and barium isotopes
We have calculated the s-wave scattering length of all the even isotopes of calcium (Ca) and barium (Ba) in order to investigate the prospect of Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC). For Ca we have used an accurate molecular potential based on detailed spectroscopic data. Our calculations show that Ca does not provide other isotopes alternative to the recently Bose condensed 40Ca that suffers stron...
متن کاملScattering Lengths and Medium and High Energy ππ Scattering
Medium and high energy absorptive parts contribute to dispersive expressions for Dwave scattering lengths, a2 and a 2 2. For the model employed by Basdevant, Frogatt and Peterson we find the Dwave driving term contributions to the Dwave scattering lengths are 1.8 · 10−4 to a2 and 0.4 · 10 −4 to a2, roughly 10% and 30% of their respective central experimental values. Inequivalent sets of sum rul...
